Bio

Associate Professor of General Sociology at LUMSA University in Palermo, where he chairs the Master’s Degree Program in Digital Communication – Society, Business & Culture (LM-59).
He is a member of the board of the Research Network 27 “Southern European Societies” of the European Sociological Association (ESA) and of the Scientific Council of the “Mediterranean Studies” section of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS), of which he is among the founders.
He has been a Visiting Professor in Spain (Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid, and Universidad de Deusto, Bilbao), Portugal (Universidade Lusófona, Lisbon), and Romania (University of Bucharest).
His research interests focus on updating classical sociological thought and address topics such as the nonprofit sector, civic forms of resistance to organized crime, migration phenomena, and the social impact assessment of local development projects.
